Job Description

LOCATION: Millsboro, DE (ONSITE) - NO HYBRID / very limited REMOTE WORK

Primary Purpose

Is a technical hands on leader undertaking complex initiatives requiring specialized technical knowledge. Will make and drive decisions on complex or ambiguous IT architecture issues, coordinate with users to determine requirements and ensure improvements are successfully implemented and monitored and finding ways to increase efficiency. This position will lead a highly technical team, overseeing and managing day-to-day operations and project work.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and manage VMware vSphere. Maintain virtualized architecture using vCenter. Develop and implement standards, procedures and processes for the team. Lead resolution of issues associated with VMware, storage, blade infrastructure and system backups. Participate in the business continuity team as a team member. Understand, develop, track, monitor and report on key performance metrics such as system utilization and storage utilization. Ensure the team is monitoring and responding proactively to issues rather than reactively. Ensure team is working with the Network Operations Center so the appropriate monitoring is being performed. Prioritize incoming requests to ensure top priority items are addressed first. Work with Cyber Security to identify and implement security solutions and security baselines within the VMware infrastructure services. Develop and implement on-call rotation for staff to ensure an administrator/engineer is available 24x7x365 for escalation of issues from the network operations center. Apply comprehensive knowledge to facilitate troubleshooting of complex problems or to ensure completion of complex assignments.

  • Develop and deploy customized VMware solutions. Deploy distributed switches in VMware solutions. Good understanding of storage protocols to include Fibre Channel, Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), MultiPath Input Output (I/O), Storage Area Network (SAN) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). Work with storage technologies such as NetApp and Pure Storage and apply the understanding of file and block protocols. Apply understanding of security concepts such as encryption, key management, certificate signing and user authentication. Apply understanding of Barracuda and Kemp Load Balancers.

  • Diagnose problems on Elastic Sky X integrated (ESXi) hosts. Troubleshoot technology issues using various resources and document lessons learned utilizing the vCenter Cloud Automation Center and vCenter Site Recovery Manager. Document the virtualization environment and keep documents updated per the configuration management plan. Work with server infrastructure technologies such as Cisco Unified Computing Systems (UCS). Apply experience debugging, troubleshooting and problem solving in a virtual environment.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. 5 or more years of relevant education, training and/or progressive relevant experience will be reviewed and considered for equivalency to these requirements.

  • 5+ years' experience in design and configuration of VM environment.

  • 3+ years' experience in managing a VM team.

  • 3+ years' experience working with Network Attached Storage (NAS)/Storage Area Network (SAN) and NAS/SAN certification.

  • VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) and/or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certifications preferred.

  • Experience with Design Server layout.

  • Knowledge of large-scale VM environment deployment and maintenance.

  • Knowledge/Understanding of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Internet of Things (IoT) or Operational Technology.

  • Experience with backup technologies such as Veritas.

  • Experience participating on disaster recovery teams.

  • Understanding of scripting or automation platforms to allow for automatic provisioning of infrastructure components.

  • Cloud Services to include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and delivering services in the Cloud.
