Description

Georgia Military College announces an immediate opening for a Director of Foundation Events and Stewardship.

The overall goal of the Director of Foundation Events and Stewardship at Georgia Military College is to strategically cultivate donor stewardship through carefully crafted and meticulously orchestrated events while overseeing the seamless operations of the Institutional Development Office for special annual events. This position is the lead committed to fostering meaning connections and philanthropy of donors while maximizing resources to advance the organization’s mission and impact. The Director of Events and Stewardship’s focus in event planning, attention to detail, and effective management will aim to inspire, engage our donors, stakeholders, community members, while ensuring operational excellence and sustainability in the advancement efforts of the institution.

The Director will excel in customer service, be enthusiastic, and establish strong relationships with internal and external clients. Based at GMC's Main Campus in Milledgeville, Georgia, this position reports directly to the AVP of Institutional Development and works as a member of the senior leadership team in concert with the Leadership Speaker Series.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of events, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience for attendees.

  • Manage event logistics including negotiating space contracts and booking event venues, assisting with arranging for food and beverages, ordering necessary supplies and audiovisual equipment, and ordering event signs.

  • Manage all aspects of pre-event and evet day preparation.

  • Coordinate event guest itineraries and sync with applicable stakeholders.

  • Serve as the main vendor liaison on event-related matters, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

  • Ensure proper liability and compliance is in place for all parties

  • Research and analyze current market trends to implement event concept to improve the guest experience

  • Implement ways to capture data in order to analyze the ROI on the event .

  • Foster stronger relationships with internal and external GMC ambassadors to increase their participation in events.

  • Maintain budget and report of expenses for all events.

    Special Events

  • Special Events include and are not limited to: Alumni Weekend, Military Heritage, the Grand Tattoo, Corps Engagement, Parents Weekend, other weekend events as required.

  • Serve as coordinator and liaison for both Alumni and GMC Foundation Boards.

  • Oversee special projects such as promoting the Alumni Scholarship and other initiatives.

  • Organize parade guest lists and dias seating

    Leadership Speaker Series Point of Contact for the Center of Leadership

  • Will be the main point of contact and part of the “Steering Committee” with the NewDay USA team and as appointed with the Executive Director of the Foundation and the President of GMC’s appointee to manage the Leadership Speakers throughout the year as needed to manage logistical support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Proven leadership experience in event coordination, particularly in fundraising and alumni engagement.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Candidate will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events.

  • Preferred, not required – experience in educational fundraising
