As aDevelopment Chemist, you will coordinate multiple Packaging Food product development projects or projects supporting a commercialized product within given time and budget constraints, and with responsibility for decisions and interpretations. You will plan all phases of work for a major program of moderate scope, including several simultaneous projects at different stages of completion. You will develop project goals and recommend new projects and integrate input from several sources and has the freedom to modify procedures according to achieve success in the marketplace. Key Responsibilities Guide compliance with PPG Environmental, Health and Safety policies Support Packaging Food product development and product launches by working with the production team to ensure the initial product scale up is successful. Help test the production batches before customer trials. Perform post-trial testing to ensure the product(s) meet PPG/ customer standards and will not derail the commercialization of product. Participate in product robustness activities for current and new coating technologies to understand operating window and improve chance of launch success and sustain running at customer facilities. Develop new test methods to have an impact in acceleration of coating results. Simulation of customer line conditions to increase the rate of products launch. Implement new ideas, screen new technologies and submit MOI's to convert into patent applications. Work with technical manager and polymer chemist. Embrace a diverse group of people and know how to deal with different personalities. Understand manufacturing process and protocols. Work with raw material suppliers and have a good grasp on how RM cost affects bottom line. Qualifications MS with 3+ years of experience or BS with 5+ years of experience, Organic Chemistry degrees PPG pay ranges and benefits can vary by location which allows us to compensate employees competitively in different geographic markets.
