Massachusetts Department of Correction Administrative Officer IV in Milford, Massachusetts

Duties: Reports to the Director of Clinical Services and is responsible for monitoring the contractual clinical provider\'s compliance with appropriate standards, regulations and contract requirements. The purpose of this position is to oversee and provide an external organizational process for reviewing, planning, monitoring and managing the quality and appropriateness of care for the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC) private health care contracts. The Regional Administrator ensures that through the contractor, the DOC is providing high quality, comprehensive Medical, Dental and Mental Health Services. Will review the quality of documentation in medical records and conduct periodic, and scheduled audits at assigned facilities using predetermined performance criteria as well as approved standards of care and practice. Strong background in general clinical nursing needed with working knowledge in contract compliance, quality assurance activities, utilization review, problem identification and analysis, staffing patterns, and training and education on incarcerated individual issues, Will assess the efficiency and effectiveness of on-site provisions of clinical operations and health care services. Serves as an active member of the Health Services Division team on various committees, e.g., Strategic Planning, Credential and Privileging, Quality Assurance, Mortality and Morbidity Review, Pharmacy and Therapeutic, Policy and Procedure and Peer Review. Performs vaccinations of DOC personnel including, but not limited to, Hepatitis B vaccine and influenza vaccination. Will share on call responsibilities as the Health Services Duty Officer (HSDO) up to 7-8 weeks per calendar year. Performs all other duties as assigned. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The applicant must be a Licensed Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner with an active license. Incumbents are required to maintain valid clinical licensure. Incumbents are required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver?s license at a class level specific to assignment. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor\'s or higher degree as a Registered Nurse and Hospital or Health Care Administration is preferred. Five (5) years of professional experience in Nursing. Experience in Correctional Health Care is highly advantageous. Must be familiar with principles and practices of quality improvement, in order to determine the quality, quantity and appropriateness of clinical health services that are provided to incarcerated individuals at Massachusetts Correctional Institutions. Experience working in corrections is preferred. Applicant must have a strong background in Organizational Management, Customer Service, Relationship Building and maintain the highest ethical and professional standards. Qualifications First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Applicants must have at least (A) six years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, financial management, or professional experience in a particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical), and (B) of which four years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver\'s license at a class level specific to assignment.
