Responsibilities Responsible for providing appropriate care for acute and chronic Neurologic disease and disorders of the nervous system and conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. The Neurologist leads an interdisciplinary team of support staff to perform assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of the System, Hospital and Garnet Health Doctors, supporting our mission, vision and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients. Neurologists work both in-patient hospital care and well as out-patient clinic care. Board Certified / Board Eligible Neurologists are expected to have competencies in Behavioral Neurology, multiple sclerosis, child neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders and neuroscience. Along with Program Director oversee and direct the Neurology Residency Program at the Hospital in a manner consistent with ACGME, CMS and other applicable oversight body requirements. Maintain a working knowledge of relevant oversight body requirements for the Neurology Residency training program and meet all required standards. Assists in responsibility and authority for the educational content and conduct of the Neurology Residency. Participate in the Resident Match process to include candidate review, interview, ranking and final matching process. Select and evaluate program faculty. Attend all Faculty Development lectures sponsored by the Department of Graduate Medical Education. Ensure proper supervision during all educational experiences. Oversee individual clinical progress of Residents, identify opportunities for improvement and establish improvement plans where needed. Assist in Milestone assessments. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range for the role is $281,308 through $347,348 annually. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy required. Minimum Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required. Prior leadership experience preferred. Required Certification/Registration: NY State Medical License required. Board Certification required. BLS preferred. ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine & Neurology required. NY State DEA required. Infection Control Certificate required. Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required. Current Infectious Certificate required. Physical Requirements: Travel to multiple facilities is required. Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. Frequent contact with various Garnet Health staff, sales representatives, employees and community members. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and push over 75 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out and below. Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
