This is a 10-week Summer Internship, with Full-Time Hours located on-site in Middletown, CT
SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Reporting directly to the Head of Retail Lending, the incumbent is responsible for performing all duties of a Loan Advisor, with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed. Provides support to Loan Originators, Underwriters, and to mortgage borrowers from the point of application until the time the loan is cleared for closing for all mortgage files. Supports the Head of Retail Lending in implementing strategic initiatives and managing the day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Effectively manage a pipeline of residential mortgage and home equity loans, working with customers, loan originators, as well as loan underwriters and closers to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Support the Head of Retail Lending with various initiatives
Work with the leadership team to identify process improvement opportunities to support the financial growth and success of Retail Lending.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Communicate by phone with Borrowers once the loan is committed and guide them through the entire process. This includes communicating loan approvals to bank attorneys, contacting borrowers with loan approvals to review outstanding conditions, and working with the underwriter and customer to clear outstanding conditions.
Provides consistent levels of high-quality customer service to internal and external clients.
Responsible for ensuring that all loan documentation is complete, accurate, verified and complies with Liberty Bank and secondary market policies.
Communicate all loan approvals to Liberty Bank assigned Attorney
Frequently interacts third parties such as realtors, attorneys, and builders to facilitate information exchange for seamless application and closing process.
Identifies problem situations, and acts proactively to resolve situations
Perform any additional duties/activities assigned by management
SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
In addition to the above, as an intern and to support an educational experience, this position will also have the following experiences:
Weekly meetings with the Head of Retail Lending to review strategic priorities and financials, including balance sheet and profit & loss reports.
Work with the Head of Retail Lending to implement various strategic initiatives.
Week-long job shadow with every department, including loan underwriting, closing, and loan servicing, to fully experience the process.
After the job shadow, identify and document process improvement opportunities to the Retail Lending Management team for consideration, using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies that will be reviewed as a part of the internship.
Review the strategic priorities and financial reports with the Head of Retail Lending.
