The University of Miami UHealth System, Department of Urology, has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Finance to work at Soffer Clinical Research Center in Miami. The incumbent leads and supports the organization’s financial activities such as forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, and treasury with the goal of enhancing profitability and cash flow management. Further, the Sr. Manager, Finance (H) oversees department staff to ensure that activities are always compliant with applicable rules and regulations.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes or recommends to management objectives and policies for the University.

  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.

  • Prepares various management reports on financial performance and explains and communicates key variance drivers and insights to appropriate managing staff.

  • Provides key financial support and analysis on an ad-hoc basis to help drive and improve business performance.

  • Compiles and analyzes data and prepares balance sheets and profit and loss statements.

  • Formulates reports to summarize and forecast organization’s business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.

  • Identifies potential financial risks and areas of opportunity.

  • Prepares and coordinates for audits of department’s accounts.

  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with banks and other external financial institutions to facilitate job functions.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions

  • Develops, prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.

  • Identifies trends and provides analytical evaluation for forward-looking financial or business-related projects.

  • Devises financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.

  • Reviews reports and ensures that financial information has been recorded accurately.

  • Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments.

  • Assists in the development and organization of department and project budgets.

  • Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities.

  • Develops performance and productivity dashboards, models or analyses.

  • Determines profitability and pricing on product offerings and develops performance indicators to enable the analysis of business segments and new service lines.

  • Conducts research on different strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare journal entries and PAAs as needed

  • Create requests for purchase orders in Workday and contracts into Conga

  • Obtain and review vendor invoices/identify and resolve discrepancies

  • Process both internal and external reimbursements

  • Acts as liaison to other departments, vendors, and other external parties to complete assignments.

  • Assist department leaders in other assigned projects

  • Serve as Finance representative on projects/committees as requested

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience

Gifts, grants and philanthropy financial management experience is strongly desired

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered
