The Gordon Center has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate 1, SOM to work in Miami, FL. The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research.

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.

  • Participates in the publication of significant results.

  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.

  • Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.

  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.

  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.

  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.

  • Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

  • No prior experience required

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Department Specific Functions

Join the Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education, a leading organization, specializing in the advancement of medical education and training through the use of simulation technology. We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Simulation Fellow with a focus on clinical medicine, especially cardiology, neurology, critical care, and emergency medicine. This role is pivotal in assisting Gordon Center leadership in conducting outcomes research to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of simulation-based training. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in healthcare, with specific expertise in the areas of clinical medicine noted above, and a passion for educational innovation and research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rigorous research on simulation-based training outcomes to ascertain effectiveness and impact on clinical preparedness.

  • Publish findings in reputable journals and present at relevant conferences.

  • Assist in designing and updating simulation scenarios and curricula for training of healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines. Ensure that training modules meet the highest standards of current medical practice and educational methodology.

  • Oversee and facilitate simulation training sessions, providing expert guidance and feedback to participants to enhance learning outcomes.

  • Work closely with the simulation center leadership to align research initiatives with strategic goals. Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals to secure support for innovative simulation projects.

  • Engage with various healthcare professionals and academic entities to promote and integrate simulation-based training in clinical medicine curricula.

  • Utilize research findings to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of simulation training programs, integrating new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.

  • Participate in Gordon Center operations and administrative functions as requested to expand knowledge and skills in these areas.
