Description

As a Customer Optimization and Acceleration Specialist II, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial success for AWS customers by creating and delivering executive-level content, serving as a subject matter expert in cost and commercial aspects throughout the customer life-cycle, and empowering clients with tools for effective cloud and IT spend management. Additionally, you'll lead the way in assessing reporting needs, establishing KPIs, and managing multiple strategic requests to ensure continuous progress and success in customer transformation and optimization initiatives.

Key job responsibilities

• Act as a financial advisor and collaborate with AWS account team, to build and deliver executive content (such as financial business case, Return on Investment and Total Cost of Ownership Analysis, cost optimization strategies)

• Become the subject matter expert in all cost and commercial related aspects of the customer life-cycle

• Educate and enable customers with tools to successfully manage cloud and IT spend

• Assessing reporting and analytic needs of customers and identifying solution and approach to meet those needs.

• Communicate, establish, and measure KPIs to track progress and success of transformation and optimization within customer organizations

• Manage numerous requests concurrently & strategically

• Understand and communicate billing, forecasting, and budgeting best practices

A day in the life

A Day in the Life of an AWS Optimization Specialist

6:30 am - Wake up bright and early, grab a quick coffee, and get ready to tackle the day ahead. As an AWS Optimization Specialist, you know every day is filled with exciting new challenges and opportunities to help your customers succeed.

8:00 am - Arrive at the office, ready to dive into the latest data and analytics. You'll be spending the morning reviewing usage patterns, forecasting costs, and identifying areas where customers can optimize their AWS spend. Your keen eye for detail and analytical prowess will be put to the test as you uncover hidden opportunities for your customers.

10:00 am - Time for a video call with one of your largest enterprise customers. They're looking to scale their cloud infrastructure and need your expertise to ensure they're leveraging the full economic potential of AWS. You'll collaborate with their IT, operations, and finance teams to understand their pain points and develop a tailored plan to streamline their cloud utilization and reduce costs.

12:00 pm - Break for a quick lunch, but the work doesn't stop! You'll use this time to stay up-to-date on the latest AWS service updates, industry trends, and best practices. Constantly learning and adapting is key in this fast-paced environment.

1:30 pm - Back in the zone, you'll dive into a complex data set to create a financial model for a customer looking to migrate more workloads to the cloud. Your ability to simplify complex information and provide clear, actionable recommendations will be crucial in helping them navigate the transition.

3:00 pm - It's time to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on. You'll be working directly with a customer's IT team to reengineer their internal processes and implement best practices for cloud adoption. Your technical acumen and customer-centric approach will shine as you guide them through the journey.

5:00 pm - Before heading home, you'll take a moment to reflect on the day's achievements. Seeing the positive impact you've had on your customers' businesses is the most rewarding part of being an AWS Optimization Specialist. You can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store!

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Microsoft Excel experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

  • Experience defining, refining and implementing sales processes, procedures and policies or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of finance, business management and sales operations experience

  • Experience working within a high-growth, technology company
