Job Description
The Senior Manager for Content Solutions is the technology account manager, business relationship manager, and product owner for related Business Functions or Business stakeholder groups aligned to the material review process. The Senior Manager will proactively understand business strategies, educate business stakeholders on existing technology capabilities, and influence/develop capability roadmaps and investment. They are responsible for the creation, operation, and evolution of one or more products within the Content Technology BTS team focused on Material Review and Content. Reporting to the BTS Function Owner or Portfolio Owner, they will drive the technology they own through the lifecycle, maximizing its business value and ensuring it meets the needs of the business function(s) supported. They will stay on top of technology trends and perform or oversee the required technical research and due diligence, when necessary, to recommend the use of new technology capabilities, balancing opportunities for innovation, business benefits, existing IT standards, and core Enterprise IT roadmaps.
Responsibilities
Responsible for planning and overseeing one or more technology products (including JedAI, Veeva PromoMats and Total Inventory Management) from ideation to operation; including securing cross-functional alignment on project scope, benefits, cost, and timeline. Expected to work effectively across various IT shared services teams, external partners, and other Commercial business stakeholders. Provides management oversight, coaching and mentoring to 2-6 direct or indirect reports.
Proactively understand the strategies and technology needs of the focus Business Function(s). Identify current and emerging unmet needs and evaluate technology solutions to balance short-term and long-term objectives. Understand both data and technology capabilities already in use across AbbVie and recommend appropriate utilization for the focus Business Function(s).
Lead the identification, execution, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of AI solutions that enhance material review performance, speed, quality, and efficiency.
Lead the creation of Business Function specific data and technology roadmaps to support the strategic needs of the owned product and Business Function. Ensure alignment between evolving business needs and corporate technology strategies. Propose, initiate, and lead programs that transform the focus Business function’s processes or technology capabilities. Manage a portfolio of products and/or projects, providing visibility to business and technology leadership on the status, benefits, costs, and risks of new requests and in-process projects.
Develop comprehensive estimates and timelines by soliciting input and collecting feedback from all impacted stakeholders. Work across BTS and other functions to negotiate and secure the availability of resources to meet the demands of the focus Business Function.
Supervise a matrix team of Project Managers, Technical Leads, Engineers, Architects, Analysts and Testers to deliver technology products for the focus Business Function(s).
Establishes and maintains productive relationships with all levels in BTS and with external partners. Acts as a liaison and business process expert to BTOs to assure successful implementation. Serves as a source of information to the service organizations on the business drivers, processes and organization structure and dynamics of multiple business areas.
Ensure that systems are defined, designed and architected in a way that results in technology synergies and simplified integration to help manage multi-vendor relationships and interfaces. Effectively work with Associate Director and Director level business leaders across the content supply chain including Marketing Operations, Marketing, Medical, Regulatory, Digital Lab and BTS to drive for results.
Has defined authority and responsibility for a significant area of work, including technical, financial and quality aspects. Responsible for compliance with applicable AbbVie Policies and procedures. Accountable for actions and decisions taken by self and subordinates. Accountable for the accuracy of the fit of the proposed business process improvements and the technical solution to the business needs and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made. Manage an IT investment budget of $1M to $10M. Work with minimal oversight; deliverables and relationships are monitored through periodic reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 8 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 7 years’ experience; PhD with 3 years’ experience
Exercises latitude in the approach to problem solving.
Minimum of 8 years of work experience including business analysis, project management, portfolio management, and strategic technology planning.
Thorough understanding of and hands-on experience with SLC (Software Life Cycle) phases, including Build and Run aspects of a Technology Product. Preference for experience and expertise in managing projects leveraging an Agile methodology.
Understanding of AI technologies and concepts and a comprehensive understanding of machine learning (ML) strongly preferred.
Understanding of the life sciences and biopharmaceutical landscape, including role of Marketing Operations highly desired.
Understanding/expertise in definition and implementation of technology strategies for pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
2+ years of experience managing or coaching cross-functional resources – employees or contract resources
Preferred:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability in building trust, listening, and asking effective questions. Innovative thinking and the ability to leverage experience to be successful in an entrepreneurial environment.
Interest in technology trends and application of technology to improve end user’s experience through innovation or disruption. Proven track record of effective project leadership and positive results. Ability to self-manage time and priorities.
Working knowledge of budget management and negotiating with IT suppliers and Marketing Agencies. Strong analysis and analytical skills. Financial acumen.
Ability to interact with business leaders in non-IT conversations. Strong soft skills.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
