Job Description

The portfolio in AbbVie is complex covering a variety of therapy areas, from Immunology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Eye Care to Specialty. We provide pricing insights to over 80 assets and indications in development. Covering a range of assets from small molecules to biologics, antibody-drug conjugants to advanced cell and gene therapies.

Within the US healthcare market, we are working in increasingly challenging access & healthcare environments, with new economic constraints driving lower willingness to pay, requiring each of us to think not only of the dynamic price potential of our assets but also the access models required to fully capture the revenue potential of the asset. Our approach to pipeline pricing aims to identify price potential earlier and ensure we are future fit for successful launches that drive broad and rapid access to our medicines, while addressing the toughest health challenges. We price our medicines to reflect the value they bring to patients and their families, the health system and to society.

The ambition is to grow the US Pipeline Price Forecasting team to include talented individuals with a range of professional backgrounds from finance to clinical pharmacy and health economics, who are experts in pricing and access models.

Primary Job Function

The Associate Director, US Pipeline Price Forecasting, will be responsible for effectively managing pricing, whereby we translate the value of our assets and indications into both optimal pricing & contracting solutions, across AbbVie’s early to late-stage pipeline assets. They are responsible for working within the cross functional matrix of stakeholders for their Brands and/-or Indications to ensure we shape the price potential of our assets, through utilization of our strategic pricing approach and advanced modelling techniques. They are also responsible for driving key scenario analysis such as Price Volume Time Tradeoffs, Gross to Net optimization, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) impact and indication sequencing.

Pricing plays a critical role within our emerging integrated value proposition strategies, and as such the Associate Directors for pipeline pricing are core members of the US Payor sub-team. Working to shape our overall access strategies, payer value propositions, and other critical deliverables to access teams, across early to late-stage pipeline AbbVie assets.

This role is also responsible for researching, evaluating, and identifying appropriate access models including Contracting Solutions, that would generate value for patients, healthcare systems and AbbVie.

Given the importance of pricing to AbbVie’s overall performance this role requires an ability to think strategically and creatively and requires strong matrix leadership and communication skills given the role demands regular engagement with key members of US access and finance leadership team, and team members across the organization including iMAP, PCS Finance & PCS commercial.

This role plays a key role in AbbVie’s key financial processes, particularly the annual Long-range planning cycles to quarterly price reporting. Responsible for accurate and timely tracking of internal and external pricing, development of LRP price guidance for pipeline assets, alongside clear analytics, and causality for price variances across the portfolio of assets within their therapy areas versus prior status.
