BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lead to join the Mission Assessments (MA) leadership team. This lead guides a multi-disciplined team focused on producing multidomain (MDO), systems-of-systems (SoS) mission assessments to effectively communicate the value of BAE Systems products to customers, DoD leadership, and the warfighter. The lead has a deep understanding of integrated Electronic Warfare (EW) systems which can include Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP) and Electronic Support (ES) for RF sensing, detection, identification, geolocation, and jamming; infrared (IR) imaging, guidance, survivability and targeting; C4ISR for actionable intelligence including SIGINT, EO/IR, Multi-INT, and hyperspectral solutions; and information technologies including fusion and dynamic mission battle management.
The MA Engineering Lead is responsible for all Engineering activities within the Mission Assessments group. They have experience providing management and supervisory leadership and mentoring of an operations analysis group to ensure flawless execution. They work with the MA Technical Director, Study Leads and Study Managers to direct operational analysis studies using a wide variety of DoD and BAE-developed modeling and simulation tools. They guide their team to collaborate with product design teams assessing threats, to develop and quantify operational level systems requirements, to develop operational systems concepts, and to assess mission effectiveness in simulated environments.
Responsibilities include:
Engineering Authority for MA reporting to the FAST Labs Engineering Director, accountable for on-time, on-budget, high quality execution of MA studies and tasks
Partner and collaborate with MA Technical Director to provide visionary leadership to develop and maintain a high performing Mission Assessment engineering organization
Provide expertise in Electronic Warfare analysis methods using both internally and government-developed tools
Attract, develop, and retain a team of operational analysts and study managers in all aspects of mission and engagement analysis to support MA activities
Ensure MA engineering team has the skills, tools, and infrastructure required to execute MA studies and tasks
Responsible for creating and maintaining a resource plan and ensuring MA has adequate staff to execute portfolio of work
Responsible for the IT/FACILITIES/SECURITY plan to ensure infrastructure is available for MA efforts
Work with other engineering leaders to identify candidates for rotations in MA
Responsible for model, simulation, and tool strategy for MA, in conjunction with MA Technical Director
Provide leadership and guidance to Study Managers executing individual studies and tasks
Manage infrastructure and transition to Model Based Engineering (MBE) to support operational analysis needs including licensing of COTS tools, government agreements, and security constructs.
Ensure implementation of analyses at the appropriate level of fidelity to answer analytic questions and extract meaningful Measures of Effectiveness and Measures of Performance that resonate with warfighters and provide design teams insight into translating technology into effective systems.
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed primarily on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility >50% of the time.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI and SAP clearances.
Bachelor s degree in a STEM field and 12 years technical experience (MS and 10 years preferred).
10 years technical / engineering leadership experience including performance management, coaching, mentoring and inspiring a technical staff with diverse experience, technical views, and individual differences.
Critical thinking skills that will be exercised across multiple levels of detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communications skills ranging from technical briefings to executive level presentations.
Experience developing and using analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, C/C , or similar tools.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Active Top Secret / SCI Clearance
Expertise in Electronic Warfare
Experience with collaborative Modeling and Simulation environments and the DoD OA community.
Knowledge of mission simulation driven by Model Based Systems Engineering
Knowledge of DevSecOps and DevSecOps pipeline driven by mission simulation-enabled test environments.
Experience with tools, infrastructure, and security constraints of DoD environments.
Experience using tools such as AFSIM, Suppressor, JIMM, BRAWLER, STK, TMAP, ESAMS, EADSIM, EWIR.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
