JOB REQUIREMENTS: BASIC WORKER FUNCTION: Builds electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies for installation on aircraft. Installs and adjusts electrical wiring harness, switches, fixtures, instruments and accessory equipment in aircraft according to specifications, using schematics, blueprints and diagrams. Installs instruments and accessory equipment to aircraft instrument panel according to specifications, using hand tools and power tools. ADDITIONAL GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: Cuts insulated wire to length and installs in aircraft. Installs backing plates and antennas to airframe using various methods. Services and installs aircraft battery. Installs interior and exterior lighting, power supplies, fans and accessories. Builds, tests and repairs electrical assemblies and subassemblies, using hand tools, power tools and test equipment such as multimeters and ammeters. Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment and repairs and replaces defective parts. Modifies equipment according to blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings. Works with and assists Avionics and Radio Mechanic as necessary. May assist in customer service work as required. Maintains tools and test equipment. Trains other workers. Serves as consultation resource with other workers. Observes all safety regulations. Other duties as required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to read schematics, blueprints and diagrams. Ability to work from sketches and drawings. Ability to use soldering equipment. Ability to use electrical test equipment. Ability to rivet per FAA guidelines. Knowledge of FAA wiring procedures. Ability to troubleshoot wiring and installation problems. Knowledge of basic principles of electricity. Knowledge of AC/DC circuits. Knowledge of basic electrical equipment. Ability to use electricians and mechanics hand tools, crimpers, voltmeters and Enstrom circuit testers.
