Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Senior Accountant based in Menlo Park, California. As a Senior Accountant, you'll be a part of our team in the non-profit industry, where you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including reviewing and preparing financial transactions, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring accurate reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Reviewing and preparing financial transactions and general ledger journal entries, ensuring their accuracy and taking necessary action to correct any errors.
• Maintaining and updating general ledger accounts.
• Ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of all relevant accounts.
• Assisting in the monthly, quarterly, and annual period close process.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls and reports for financial systems.
• Preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, cost reports, billings, bank reconciliations, and various other financial reports.
• Providing necessary information to auditors and management; preparing audit schedules as necessary.
• Reviewing and preparing federal, state, and other regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
• Recommending and implementing corrective action in operations and areas out of compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Utilizing skills in Workday Financial Management, Review Journal Entries, Posting Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation, Cash Reconciliations, and Expense Accruals. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role or related field
• Proficiency in Workday Financial Management software
• Experience in reviewing and posting journal entries
• Expertise in balance sheet account reconciliation
• Proficiency in cash reconciliations
• Experience in handling expense accruals
• Ability to work in a non-profit environment
• Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification is preferred
• Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in dealing with sensitive information.
