Summary:

Facebook is looking for an experienced public affairs professional to join our State and Local Policy Team to manage municipal outreach and engagement. Candidates should demonstrate experience in public policy, issue advocacy, a strong understanding of technology policy and experience with local government engagement. Candidates should also show a deep knowledge and passion for Facebook.

In this role, you will lead our outreach efforts with local policy makers to champion our community engagement initiatives and local policy interests.

This is a full-time position located at our headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Frequent travel is required.

Required Skills:

  1. Build relationships with local elected leaders, primarily US Mayors, to strengthen our policy relationships and improve our company visibility and reputation.

  2. Work cross-functionally with communications, policy programs, external affairs, and our politics and government teams to develop community engagement initiatives tailored to local policy stakeholders.

  3. Work with our regional policy leads to support policymaker engagement and advocacy on local policy issues.

  4. Work closely with industry groups, non-profits and legislative organizations to promote policies that foster a safe, secure and open Internet.

  5. Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience in public policy, community relations, advocacy, or government affairs

  2. Experience presenting before audiences

  3. Experience working cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in public policy, public administration, or law

  2. Experience working in local government and/or advocacy experience in local municipalities
