Description

Job Summary

The Lead Technician is responsible for performing the installation of various telecommunications network equipment, in a professional and timely manner while maintaining the highest level of quality to meet customer expectations. The Lead Technician leads and directs the work of other technicians on the job site, while also acting as one of the primary installers. This work may be performed at Cell sites (NO tower work) Data Centers, Central Offices, POP Sites, Hospitals, Shopping centers, and/or Office Buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with the customer and develop a good working relationship with onsite personnel.

  • Install a wide range of telecommunications equipment, data center cabinets.

  • Run, terminate, and test dc power, fiber optic, and LAN cabling.

  • Read and understand customer requirements, scopes of work, blueprints, and mops

  • Provide daily job status updates using Microsoft outlook.

  • Accept delivery of customer supplied equipment and report inventory accurately and promptly.

  • Relay engineering and material discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Maintain a clean working environment.

  • Adjust to customer demands, and priorities as needed.

  • Be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as function at sites with multiple contractors and crews.

  • Operate and maintain a company owned vehicle, and tools.

  • Have a positive attitude and be able to adapt to situations as they arise.

  • Act as a role model for other employees.

Position Requirements

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge to perform or learn all aspects of project assigned.

  • Quality Auditing associated with Verizon IP72202, AT&T TP76300, and the GR-1275

  • Interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Outlook, and Teams).

  • Strong communication, organizational, problem solving, and planning skills.

  • Completing quality installs, working under strict customer installation quality guidelines.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of Telecommunications equipment installation or related industry experience

  • Experience with:

  • DC Power experience.

  • Fiber Optic Cabling (scoping, and testing power and light readings).

  • Fiber Optic Splicing.

  • OSHA safety regulations (OSHA10, OSHA30).

  • Alarm, rectifier, power plant and IP programming.

  • Troubleshooting various power, fiber, and alarm conditions.

  • Performing live installations and removals of primary DC power (Hot Work).

  • Deka Unigy II battery stand instillation

  • GE Infinity power plant, Commscope powershift, or Raycap Instillation.

  • Working from a scope of work, estimate and gather proper materials prior to job start.

  • Field management, supervising minimum of four (4) or more employees.

  • Reading construction drawings scopes of work, and wiring diagrams.

  • Must have:

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Must be willing to travel out of town during the work week (home weekends)

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The employee must be able and willing to travel locally to reach customer and network locations or local events and regularly work in outdoor weather conditions. Compliance with all Company safety procedures is a requirement.

  • The employee is regularly required to communicate with customers and co-workers in a clear and straight forward manner.

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and will be standing during most of the day. The employee will frequently service network equipment and position self to access network equipment in small remote cabinets, vaults, and buildings with limited space to work.

  • The employee must regularly carry, move, push, pull, install, and/or remove tools and equipment weighing 20 to 50 pounds (and frequently 50 to 100 pounds).

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (specifically the ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires), peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

  • The employee must occasionally be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and operate computer and other office equipment.

  • The Employee will frequently be required to work at heights less than 10 feet above the ground.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full-Time Non-Exempt position. Days and hours of work are Generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An appropriate level of communication about expected hours of work between the remote employee and supervisor will be agreed to as part of the discussion process and will be more formal during the trial period. With on call duties as assigned relating to ANS Advanced Network Services user issues after hours’, weekends, and holidays.
