Research Scientist for Verint Americas Inc. in Melville, NY to perform open research into topical analysis, clustering, and other Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks to improve the intelligence of Verint’s current and future products; evaluate various software and machine learning methods, generate results, and communicate findings to others; read publications and documentation to incorporate novel research ideas and algorithms into Verint’s solutions; experiment and draft findings to submit in formal publications, present findings at conferences, and collaborate with development groups to bring innovations to life inside Verint products; work with other researchers and interns on various projects as determined by lead researchers; program new features and proof of concepts, document all findings, and generate summaries using expertise in computer science and software engineering, including but not limited to Python and Python machine learning libraries, version control systems (Git, Subversion, or related), and Linux and Docker software environments; use machine learning frameworks in development, testing, and production environments to create and deploy new technologies; create new machine learning algorithms to optimize and deliver results by reducing computational complexity and increasing the accuracy of models and improving on business metrics; support application of new business intelligence and automation solutions by identifying software and machine learning issues and developing patches and fixes to resolve the issue; communicate research results to other researchers and project managers; conduct both open-ended and focused research projects in a particular field of knowledge, and publish findings in academic and professional journals, conferences, and electronic media . Requires: Masters degree in Computer Science or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in software engineering . Specific skills/other requirements - Experience must include: Computer science research (2 years); Data mining and machine learning using Python; NLP, including tagging, chunking, clustering, and classification; Python machine learning libraries one of three: Tensorflow, pyTorch, or sci-kit learn; Software version control systems (Git, Subversion or related); Linux and Docker software development environments; Communicating to and presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholder; and Writing and submitting scientific publications to conferences and journals. Requires domestic and international travel to attend conferences and journal meetings.
