The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

The System Test Engineer / Software Engineer in Test role is to create, maintain and execute Software System and Integration Tests as specified by the development team. Additionally, this Engineer will assist the team to grow a Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment used for automatically testing and deploying DRS networking and computing products. This is a position within the software team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manually execute System Integration Tests specified in Jira X-ray. New feature, regression, negative, and destructive tests are all applicable.

  • Create, maintain, and grow a CI/CD environment used for the automated build, test, static analysis, and output archival for battle-hardened networking and computing products.

  • Use software development tools like GitLab, JIRA, and Confluence to enable continuous deployment pipelines, end-to-end continuous integration, automated regression testing, integration testing, results archival and systems monitoring.

  • The ability to code using shell and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Go, JavaScript) is a plus for this position.

  • Candidates with a deep understanding of networking, including switching, routing, VLANs, and voice/video protocols will be preferred.

  • Assemble, integrate, configure, maintain and monitor (e.g., PXE, Kickstart, Ansible, Nagios) technology across disparate platforms. This requires an understanding of systems, data structures, modern scripting and enterprise level languages, as well as open-source tools that can and should be leveraged to solve problems.

Qualifications

  • An Associates or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent education and experience.

  • At least 2 years implementing and maintaining automated build scripts used in a CI/CD environment and written in Bash or Python.

  • Strong foundation in standard software development processes/methods and configuration management using git. GitLab experience is a plus.

  • Must be a self-starter comfortable with taking responsibility for lab equipment configuration, deployment, maintenance, and appropriation.

  • Must work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

  • Candidates must be a US citizen or unexpired green card holder. This position does not require a security clearance, but the candidate must meet DRS security standards as imposed by the DoD.

Additional Desired Experience

  • Experience using and maintaining GitLab, JIRA, X-ray, Confluence and Docker.

  • Comfortable setting up operational environments on both Windows and Linux.

  • Experience with GitLab pipelines and Bash/Python scripting.

  • Experience automating software development toolchains.

  • Exhibit a deep understanding of server virtualization such as KVM, networking and monitoring, ensuring that the deployed VMs perform with high availability and uptime.

  • Experience in AS9100/ISO9000 or equivalent quality systems.

  • Multi-lingual: Eastern European languages highly desired.
