The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Urban Designer to join our Melbourne team. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in urban design, outstanding leadership skills, and a passion for creating vibrant urban spaces. You will be at the forefront of delivering innovative urban design solutions throughout the tender, design, and construction phases of major projects across sectors such as transport, water, and infrastructure. Additionally, you will drive the strategic growth of the team and foster long-term solutions for urban challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage urban design projects across various stages of the project life cycle

• Develop and execute creative design strategies and solutions.

• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional urban design outcomes.

• Provide expert guidance on urban design, public spaces, and placemaking.

• Conduct site analysis, research, and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.

• Prepare and present design proposals, reports, and visualizations.

• Mentor and support the development of junior designers and team members.

Who Are You?

You are a dynamic thinker, passionate about leadership and building strong stakeholder relationships. You have a proven track record of contributing to large-scale projects in a consulting environment, with the ability to manage complex design initiatives successfully. Your strong grasp of urban design principles, practices, and trends is complemented by excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban design, urban planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in urban design or a related discipline.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
