Wellman Products Group Senior Financial Analyst in Medina, Ohio

Job Summary:

The primary focus of the Senior Financial Analyst is to support the client's U.S. accounting and finance teams. This individual reports to the U.S. Controller, but will also work very heavily with the Accounting Manager, as well as the North America Finance Operations team. The person will have month-end close and account reconciliation responsibilities, financial reporting responsibilities, and participate in the management of internal controls. Outside of the 1.5 weeks of month-end close each month, this person will be working on financial projects, and be one of the main catalysts in driving better processes in North America. This person will assist the Accounting Manager with month-end close and compliance, and other U.S. Finance leaders in pushing efficiency, reducing redundancy, and improving cross functional communication and collaboration. This person will also be an integral team member in the intercompany activity processes and reconciliations (both domestic and foreign).

The Senior Financial Analyst will interact closely with the other U.S. accounting and finance team members, as well as various other U.S. departments.  This individual must have excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written), be a team player, be exceptionally organized, and be able to work across organizational lines to achieve desired results. This person should have a high level of integrity, be highly analytical, and be able to solve complex technical accounting problems. This person will need to be committed to continuous improvement, and always be looking for opportunities to improve processes, and to improve internal controls.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:                                          

  • Be a "utility" player who participates in both general accounting and finance operations projects
  • Review financial systems and processes, and where necessary, drive changes and training of key individuals
  • Oversee intercompany activity, including accounting, billing, and collections
  • Participate in month-end close process, including preparation of appropriate journal entries and accruals, completing account reconciliations, and working closely with both Accounting Manager and Sr. Accountant
  • Support process improvement efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department
  • Participate in management of internal controls
  • Participate in financial and other audits
  • Participate in annual budget process
  • Support annual Physical Inventory
  • Other miscellaneous closing duties including analysis of financials and other ad-hoc tasks

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with training and work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPA is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in accounting and financial roles within manufacturing industries, utilizing integrated ERP systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP is mandatory.
