In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients in numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. You will collaborate with your fellow caregivers in maintaining appropriate and quality patient care, environment cleanliness and overall team organization. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM - 7:30PM and 7:30PM - 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, taking vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry.
Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers, ambulation.
Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician. Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
Acknowledge patient concerns/needs and notify appropriate staff for assistance when necessary.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within three months of hire
Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs

Physical Requirements:
Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
Extensive standing and walking
Medium Work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
Personal Protective Equipment:
