Job Title: Manual Machinist

Job Description

This position involves machining parts for stock, making or repairing parts for emergency repairs, fabrication, welding, and working on plant machinery within the Plant Service shop and following through with scheduled work.

Hard Skills

• Operate Manual Vertical Milling machine

• Level a shaft in the mill

• Find the center of the shaft and mill a given size key without causing damage to the tools or the shaft

• Set up the mill and square the surfaces of a block to each other

• Set up the mill and machine a block to a given thickness +/- 0.001”

• Manual lathe skills

• Turn a shaft with a minimum of 2 radius within 0.001”

• Face the end of a shaft to length within 0.001”

• Drill and tap a hole into the end of a shaft

• Turn threads on the outside of a shaft

• Welding

• Set up the welder for Tig welding

• Join 2 pieces of steel to form a right angle

• Set up the welder for Mig welding

• Join 2 pieces of steel to form a right angle

• Set up the Mig welder for aluminum and join 2 pieces to form a right angle

Work Environment

Will be working as a machinist for the plant maintenance team. The machinery is in the maintenance department. 1st shift - M-F 8-4pm. Pay is based on experience but looking around $29-$34. Will be working along one other machinist.
