Contributions

As a Systems Engineer , you will work within our growing DevSecOps practice delivering features to support cloud,data centerandinfrastructureformultiplesystems. We are looking for candidates with 3-5yearsofexperiencewithnetworking in hybrid cloud/on-premisesenvironments.Responsibilities include:

  • Designand implementsystem architecture (hardware, software, virtualizedcomponentsand network components) for cloud and on-premisesenvironments.

  • Plan and manage system upgrades or patching to meet business needs.

  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders andapplying these needsto designs.

  • Implement network segmentation to enhance security and performance.

  • Install and configure operating systems (e.g.Windows, Linux, macOS) and other enterpriseservices.

  • Develop automation scripts (using Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to reduce manual tasks.

  • Install and configure storage systems (e.g.SAN, NAS) and manage data backups.

  • Monitorsystemperformance and availability issues and troubleshoot issues through robust root cause analysis.

  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threatsby implementing firewalls, managing VPNs, and implementing intrusion detection and prevention systems.

  • Support enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure through automated configuration management andinfrastructure as code activities.

  • Manage firewalls,encryptionand antivirus software to protect systems and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

  • Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations. 

  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members.

  • Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided.

  • Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other team members.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience

  • 5+ years of total experience

  • 3Years of Experiencearchitecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions

  • 3 Years of Experience with one or more clouds (i.e.AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • 3 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket

  • 3 Years of Experience withsystems developmentin an Agile environment

  • 3 Years of Experience with scripting using Python,Bashor PowerShell

  • 3 Years of Experience installing,configuringandoptimizingWindows and Linux systems

  • 3 Years of Experiencesupporting patch management,vulnerabilityanalysis, and disaster recovery

  • Experience with AWS and GCP

Preferred:

  • Certifications:

  • AWS CertifiedSolution Architect - Associate

  • AWS Certified SolutionSysOpsAdministrator Associate

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations preferred

  • Experience implementing docker containers andutilizingplatforms such as Kubernetes

  • Experience with automation tools, including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible

  • Experiencewith containerized applications using Docker or Kubernetes

About steampunk

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $145,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
