The JASON Program office manages and oversees the activities of the JASON Advisory Group. JASON is a highly select, independent group of academic scientists that advises the United States government on matters of science and technology, particularly on matters relating to national security.

Within the Business and Knowledge Solutions Division, the Enterprise Knowledge Assets team facilitates reuse of life-of-corporation records by preventing intellectual property loss, leading scalable information governance, and ​​​​​​​securing sensitive assets over time, to protect MITRE's contributions to the nation.

The Jason Program Office is looking for our next Information Research Analyst to join the team.

Driven by your resourcefulness, creativity, and critical thinking skills, you will be responsible for the diligent pursuit of information as it relates to ever-evolving research demands and our scholarly inquiries. The core of this position is dedicated to conducting research on a variety of scientific, engineering, and national security issues. Working collaboratively with the JASON advisory Group and the JASON program office, you will contribute to the development of new research and developing subject matter expertise on the various strategic topics.

The successful candidate will primarily support the JASON program office. You will also support the MITRE Global Knowledge Assets and Governance team in the stewardship and the reuse of MITRE’s research products.

The level of engagement means that the Candidate must be willing to relocate to the JASON program location and work onsite 100% in La Jolla, CA during the months of January, June, July, and August. Travel reimbursement for the candidate and their immediate family as well as a housing allowance and per diem are available. During the other months, the candidate may work a hybrid schedule combining telework with 2-3 days per week in the McLean, VA office.

Job Highlights

JASON Program (75%)

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide in-depth reference and research support to include web-based search for identification and retrieval of pertinent technical articles/books/journals/etc, knowledge of library systems and physical retrieval of research materials, to include purchasing when necessary.

  • Pitch in on “all hands-on deck” administrative activities in a fas-paced environment.

  • Modernize JASON reports database, to include rationalization of metadata, search engine optimization, functional enhancements, and overall utility and useability.

  • Assist JASON members with copyedit, format, and review scientific technical reports in typesetting software including, but not limited to: MS Word, LaTeX, Adobe

  • Digitize JASON reports that exist only in paper form.

MITRE Global Knowledge Assets and Governance (25%)

Responsibilities include:

  • Enable the appropriate discovery and reuse of MITRE research products, the JASON reports, and JASON archival collection.

  • Work closely with colleagues to manage taxonomies and implement metadata frameworks that can enrich discovery.

  • Work with colleagues to manage the implementation, day-to-day application, and periodic enhancement of metadata related to MITRE’s research products.

  • Collaborate across working teams to address and resolve metadata issues.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • 2 years of library experience in reference and document delivery

  • Knowledge of metadata standards, including bibliographic and archival description standards.

  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site .

    Preferred Qualifications

  • MIS/MLS/MLIS or related degree or some course work in library school program

  • Experience serving as a librarian in a corporate, government, or academic organization supporting engineers and other highly technical professionals.

  • Experience arranging and describing archival collections and digital repository assets.

  • Experience working with taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to present complex technical and metadata information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of copyright policies and law

  • Copyediting experience

  • Knowledge of Archives Space, Preservica, LaTex, M365 applications especially SharePoint

$93,000 - $116,500 - $140,000 Annual
