The Cigna Group Government & Education Senior Client Manager - Baltimore, MD or McLean, VA - Remote - Cigna Healthcare in McLean, Virginia

The Government & Education Senior Client Manager (GECM) is designed to assume primary responsibility for strategic account management for a Mid-Atlantic based book of business that is exclusively comprised of government and/or education entities. These accounts usually represent some of the largest and most influential clients in any given national market. Fittingly, they require a strong dedicated individual to manage a multi-faceted account strategy that ensures long-term client retention. This individual will be tasked with managing and growing a select, defined client base with success metrics tied to overall account service performance, earnings growth or protection, relationship management, and membership stability and/or modest growth. The individual should have strong strategic relationship management skills and have experience with managing direct multi-level relationships within the public sector. Ideally, individual will have had exposure to decision makers across broad functional areas in this space, including but not limited to: human resources, finance, procurement, city/county executive management, employee benefits consultants, and/or union organizations.

Responsibilities

The GECM will be accountable to retain and grow a defined client based through the following efforts:

  • Develop rapport and trust with clients and/or benefit consultants that foster strong partnerships in developing creative benefit solutions for your clients.

  • Leads the coordination of Cigna Healthcare's internal local market and/or Cigna Healthcare's government and education vertical resources to support evolving client employee benefit needs.

  • Ensures exception service delivery and manages full collection of internal resources aligned to service delivery, clinical engagement, and overall health improvement.

  • Understand plan reporting needs of client and engage appropriate data analytics resources to document Cigna Healthcare's health improvement value to client and/or benefits consultants.

  • Develop and evolve a multi-level relationship strategy that extends to the broad array of decision makers in the public sector.

  • Develop and manage a community engagement strategy pursuant to those health and wellness related topics that are important to your defined client base.

  • Engage in all relevant staff and or elected official meetings where employee benefits and health care are relevant agenda topics.

  • Plan and manage any pre-renewal or pre procurement bid strategies that would best position Cigna Healthcare to retain the account relationship. Discussions would include engagement of senior management and underwriting to determine any strategies that would extend contract cycle without a formal procurement.

  • Identify and upsell or cross sale opportunities that can be managed within the scope of the entities procurement guidelines.

  • Ensures that clients receive all relevant compliance, legislative, and operational updates and communicates their impact (if any) to our contractual relationship.

  • Ensures that Cigna is managing our contractual relationship in accordance with the mutually agreed upon scope of services as defined in the administrative services agreement.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills

  • Financial acumen to manage and grow the book of business

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple internal and external partners

  • Strong background and experience in account management, account service, underwriting, sales and/or other functional areas requiring significant client and customer interaction

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Individual must live in the local market

  • State required Life, Accident, and Health licensure

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
