Department Summary:

MITRE’s Department of Strategic Management Systems within the Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Center works in partnerships across government agencies to establish management practices needed to achieve mission success.

We will provide you with challenging opportunities to apply and expand your business strategy acumen, assess governance, develop, and implement performance metrics, apply analytic skills, and assist government agencies with strategic innovation and transformation. As our Strategist, you will contribute to a team that provides technical consulting in the area of strategic management.

Job Description:

• Assist government leaders in defining the vision and determining the direction of change through a period of major government transformation.

• Lead government agencies in strategic visioning, planning and execution toward the desired future state guiding the organization and employees through the necessary changes to bring the plan to successful fruition.

• Work with government leaders to translate their mission, vision, goals, and strategies into actionable programs within a coherent concept of operations.

• Lead the development of agency-wide or government-wide strategic and transition planning activities.

• Mentor junior team members, assist in identifying appropriate engagements for them, guide / support their professional development.

• Establish enterprise governance with associated practices and mechanisms.

• Participate in recruiting efforts to identify and secure top talent.

• Help develop performance management plans; defining metrics, sourcing valid data, and using the information to evaluate progress and determine future investment of time and resources.

• Analyze the current state and support the design of objective future business operations for federal departments and agencies to aid Government decision making.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems Management, other related major and 10 + years related experience including 2 years leadership

• Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance.

• Documented success providing consulting support to Federal government clients working on transformational projects.

• Hands on proficiency defining performance metrics, sourcing valid data, and using the information to evaluate progress and determine future investment of time and resources.

• Ability to conduct research and present findings and recommendations that effectively communicate key messages.

• Significant experience developing teams & talent.

• Proven capacity to learn quickly.

• This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree/ MBA

• Preference given to qualified candidates with active clearance.

• Federal consulting experience preferred including

• Experience in convening stakeholders to address critical challenges in (1) climate and environmental change impact, (2) domestic and global security and resiliency, and/or (3) national and international cybersecurity challenges, system vulnerabilities and designing and implementing mitigations to maintain highest levels of security.
