DOMESTIC ABUSE SEXUAL ASSAULT SERV Administrative Assistant/Legal Advocate in MCCOOK, Nebraska

Administrative Assistant/Legal Advocate, Expectations: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times Knowledge of and interest in the issues relating to domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking Dedication and commitment to the goals of Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault Services Ability to work well with persons from a variety of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds with various religious beliefs, lifestyles, sexual orientations, age variance and differing abilities Strong interpersonal skills including: ability to listen and demonstrate sensitivity, compassion and empathy, ability to handle stressful/crisis situations, ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form, ability to organize activities and time, ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills, Ability to cope with interruptions and rearrange priorities without adverse reaction Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively Ability to complete projects in a thorough and timely manner Adhere to all guidelines and policies of Domestic Abuse/Sexual Assault Services [Ability to work irregular hours (i.e., periodic evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays). Primary Duties and Responsibilities: duties may include, but not limited to the following: Administrative Duties: Process fiscal transactions including: Verification of all accounts payable, Prepare deposits, Oversight of credit card transactions Assist the Executive Director and Board with updating of agency fiscal policies Assist with annual audit preparation Participate in creating the annual budget in coordination with the Executive Director Coordinate with the Executive Director to secure and review all major bids and provide recommendations. Assist with preparing grant budgets and budget narratives for grant applications in coordination with the Executive Director to meet grant deadlines Maintain grant spreadsheets and accounting system of grant funds Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and submit to grant agencies Collect, document and enter programmatic data for statistical reports Manage record retention and destruction Client Service/Advocate Duties: Respond to clients in a professional and supportive way Assess client's needs and provide direct services to clients including crisis support/intervention, emergency food and shelter, economic advocacy, medical advocacy, case management, housing advocacy, safety planning and provide referrals for counseling and legal services Legal advocacy including assisting clients to understand and participate in the criminal justice system, informing clients of the legal process, assisting with protection orders, assisting with victim impact statements, accompanying clients to court and throughout the criminal justice process Advocate on behalf of clients with other professionals and/or individuals Ensure equal access to all services provided by the program Assist with 24 hour crisis line coverage by participating in weekly rotation of schedule for on call services for crisis line coverage Attend conferences/trainings, staff meetings and other personal development opportunities Outreach/Public Awareness Duties: Maintain positive relationships with county officials, law enforcement, probation, other community service organizations, etc., within our service area Meet with law enforcement, criminal justice entities and county officials on a regular basis to maintain coordination/collaboration and to help keep them sensitized to the needs of crime victims and encourage a concerned approach to those survivors Maintain various databases including court information, newsletters, mailing lists, etc. Assist with awareness and outreach activities Provide presentations Assist with upkeep and promotion of agency Facebook and/or other social media sites Assist in maintaining DASAS website Assist with preparing qu rterly newsletter Requirements One-year experience or 24 credit hours of higher education coursework in the field of human services. Documented knowledge and/or experience with the Criminal Justice System. Experience in public speaking Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Publisher), QuickBooks, WordPress and Social Media programs. Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and a reliable, insured vehicle Successful completion of criminal background check, CPS/APS background check, Sex Offender Registry and Motor Vehicle Report check.
