TAD PGS, Inc. Press Technician in McCalla, Alabama

We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for a Press Technicianto join a leading Company located in theMcCalla, AL surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $21.63

Shift is 6am to 6pm in training for the first 3weeks to a month - then moves to 6 pm to 6 am - little OT

Job Responsibilities:

  • Press operations - Machine setup, start the machine, operate a pre-programmed cycle, handle/pack material, move materials.

  • Follow Standardized Work Instructions.

  • Able to operate progressive press equipment safely and meet expected HPH and quality goals.

  • Able to operate transfer press equipment Safely and meet expected HPH and quality goals.

  • Able to set up all aspects of new jobs.

  • Able to optimize any die setup (feeds, speeds, gripper/ finger adjustment, destacker , motion curves, stack setups, etc .. ).

  • Follow and recommend improvements to SOP's .

  • Supports the teams in Operational improvement.

  • Develops Initial Standard Work Practices with the team's Quality Checks and Inspections.

  • Problem Solving - Learn to recognize and solve the malfunctioning of the machine and recognize and solve quality problems of the formed part.

  • Make process checks/inspections.

  • Finalize component parts to ready them for assembly into final products. This may include, but is not limited to, deburring, 100% inspection, rework, etc.

  • Know the proper and improper use of PPE and equipment with ultimate concern for personal safety and the safety of others.

  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.

  • Supports Operational Performance Metrics and meets targets for improvement.

  • Supports annual operating plan.

  • Minor maintenance/repairs on equipment.

  • Recording data as needed/ assist in documenting standardized work.

  • Material Handling as required.

  • Cleaning and enhancing their work area.

  • Perform 5S audits.

  • Develop ideas for Kaizen and participate in implementation.

  • Ability to train new or less experienced associates.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

    Basic Hiring Criteria:

  • High school education diploma and equivalent.

  • Experience using a variety of hand and power tools is preferred.

  • Previous employment in a manufacturing environment.

  • A clear understanding of lean principles and the application of lean tools.

  • Ability to work unsupervised.

  • Thorough Knowledge of Resistance Spot Welding.

  • Clear Understanding of Programmable Controllers and Robotics.

  • Ability to compare work against standards of quality provided and distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable tolerances.

  • Through knowledge of automation safety.

  • Clear understanding of material flow and Supply Chain Management- applies lean tools to improve it.
