The Town of Mashpee Public Library welcomes applications for a full time Youth Services Librarian; \$27.98/hour - \$29.69/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position works 37.5 hours/week between the Library\'s operating hours of 9:00am - 7:00pm, Monday - Saturday. Position open until filled. The Youth Services Librarian provides professional library services, & ensures the delivery of quality materials, services, & programs for library patrons. Performs duties in the areas of reference, collection development, programming, instruction, technology support, & other duties needed to provide core library services to young people of all ages as well as parents, caregivers & educators. This position coordinates the youth services operation & activities; trains, supervises, & evaluates staff as assigned, monitors work for accuracy & adherence to standards, coordinates technical services functions in preparation of Library materials for public use as needed. Responsibilities include creating a climate of friendly & efficient customer service & responding to & resolving patron requests & inquiries. Responsible for maintaining & improving upon the efficiency & effectiveness of all areas under their direction & control. Education, Training & Experience: Master\'s degree in library science (MLS/MLIS) is required; at least one year professional experience working in a public library, providing direct customer service in person, via telephone &/or electronically via email is preferred; youth programming experience, & knowledge of children?s & young adult literature is preferred; may consider MLS/MLIS candidates with significant progress toward completion of the degree & general public library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills & abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
