About the Team : The Supply Chain Management Team at ZF Marysville supports and manages a wide range of customer locations and processes, both internal and external. We are a state of the art manufacturing and assembly operations facility supplying Just in Time and Just in Sequence drive unit axles and beveled gear sets to our OEM customers. We work closely with several other departments, managing requirements, schedules, inventory, forecasting, planning and Logistics. With a strong focus on efficiency and cost control, we are responsible for material procurement, outside services, warehousing, material movement and transportation methods of our diverse supply base with locations from around the world. The Logistics Engineer will provide input and expertise to the operations to support several activities. These can include but not limited to supporting new business acquisitions, product launches, packaging development, continuous improvement, supplier quoting and material handling solutions to name a few.

What you can look forward to as a Logistics Engineer:

  • Leads projects to implement automation and material handling/storage equipment to improve material flow.

  • Selects vendors and leads the implementation of equipment in the facility.

  • Develops material handling/storage solutions to improve processes and/or to reduce costs/investments.

  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, material flow/storage, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the equipment on the floor from delivery to hand off to logistics/production.

  • Confers with planning and design staff of vendor concerning product design to ensure efficient material handling/storage methods.

  • Determines product specifications for the purchase of equipment or materials, according to specifications and quality standards. Follows the evolution of the equipment and performs acceptance evaluation accordingly.

  • Confers with management, vendors and other plant personnel regarding logistics capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

  • Involvement in and/or lead team meetings with material handling staff and other plant personnel to help determine and develop areas of improvement.

  • Lead the development of PFEPs. (Plan for Every Part) and assist in the development of processes to manage returnable packaging

Your Profile as a Logistics Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Engineering Degree. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Industrial Engineering (BSIE) preferred.

  • 3 – 4+ years of experience (including co-op and internships). Engineering experience with an automotive company and/or in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • 2+ years of hands-on material flow and/or storage equipment problem solving experience. Prior experience preferred in layout and material flow planning, automation, and/or material handling/storage equipment.

  • Cost estimation and cost analysis experience is required

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft and CAD software. SAP knowledge preferred

  • Packaging engineeering experience preferred. Knowledge of PFEP (plan for every part) preferred

  • Program/project managament experience preferred

  • Prior experience with plant layout, budgeting, and/or blueprint reading preferred. Negotiation skills desirable.

  • Knowledge of AGV, VGV, or autonomous material handling equipment preferred

  • Ability to work overtime and different shifts as needed
