Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with extensive experience in operating and setting up multi-axis mills or turning centers with live tooling. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and be capable of reading blueprints, micrometers, veneers, and gauging. This position requires a commitment to meeting production and quality requirements while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multi-axis CNC Machining Centers, including lathes or mills (both horizontal and vertical).

  • Manufacture parts to meet production and quality requirements.

  • Read and modify programs by making necessary offsets for CNC machines.

  • Work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and/or new parts.

  • Conform with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Participate in continuous improvements and lean initiatives.

  • Understand and utilize G Code programming.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of CNC Machine Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Experience operating and setting up multi-axis mills or turning centers with live tooling.

  • Ability to read blueprints, micrometers, veneers, and gauging.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Utilize various types of manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop equipment.

  • Perform machining operations on all types of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, nonmetallic materials, their alloys, and synthetic materials.

  • Work from and in accordance with specifications and design criteria including verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints.

  • Perform standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining.

  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and maintain accurate dimensional tolerances.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools to maximize efficiency and ensure quality of the product.

  • Set up and operate a variety of machines including lathes, mills, jig borers, and precision grinders.

  • Fabricate complicated parts with many interrelated dimensions, compound angles, and irregular surfaces.

  • Improvise production aids as necessary to facilitate operations.

  • Rework and calibrate production parts or assemblies and machine tooling as required.

  • Suggest changes in design involving productivity and manufacturing processes.

  • Lay out, form, and fabricate all gauges of sheet metal, extruded, and tubing materials.

  • Set up punch presses and operate various types and sizes of power brakes as needed.

  • Set up and operate tape-controlled punch presses manually or automatically.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position with flexible hours (3-11 or 11-7). The medium-sized manufacturing facility has 60 employees between two plants. The environment can be noisy at times but not more than any other manufacturing setting. The assembly area can be somewhat crowded due to parts laying on the ground. Steel-toed safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
