Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a Veeva Solution Lead

Purpose and Scope:

As a Solution Lead/ Value Team Captain of a team of individuals in a specific area of Veeva Vault R&D, you will be a crucial player in driving our digital initiatives forward in our agile organization. Our agile operating model consists of two components – Digital Capability and Digital Execution. Digital Execution are about aligning multiple missions around business goals and facilitating collaboration on a larger scale. Digital Capability, on the other hand, focus on the growth and development of individuals within a specific expertise area. This dual structure enables us to scale agile practices efficiently while maintaining a focus on both product development and individual skill enhancement.

An Agile Value Team captain/member is a key leadership role within agile development environments, focusing on maximizing the value delivered by agile teams to stakeholders and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This individual works closely with platform owners/developers, scrum masters, development teams, and stakeholders to progress the delivery of valuable software solutions efficiently and effectively.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Business Process & Platform Expertise: Significant expertise in end-to-end business processes and Enterprise solutions that digitally empower and transform the business processes.

  • Value Maximization: Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to define and prioritize features and user stories that align with business goals and deliver maximum value. Ensure the agile teams are focused on the most valuable work.

  • Innovation & Improvement: Encourage and lead innovative approaches and solutions within the specific area of expertise. Lead the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance platform capabilities and performance.

  • Agile Advocacy: Champion agile methodologies within the organization, promoting best practices, and ensuring that agile principles are adhered to across teams. Facilitate the adoption of agile tools and techniques that enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between the agile teams and external stakeholders. Communicate progress, challenges, and achievements effectively, managing expectations and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning sessions to align agile team efforts with long-term business objectives. Contribute to the product roadmap and release planning, ensuring a clear vision and direction.

  • Continuous Improvement: Lead retrospectives and other continuous improvement efforts to analyze team processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes that enhance productivity and quality.

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and address risks that could impact the delivery of value. Work with teams and stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies and ensure smooth project execution.

  • Performance Measurement: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to value delivery, team performance, and stakeholder satisfaction. Use data to drive decisions and continuous improvement.

  • Reporting: Regularly report on the progress of the various Value Teams and outcomes to your Capability Lead and team members.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Advanced degree in relevant field, e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration

  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated relevant experience.

  • Business Process Understanding: Knowledge of Clinical/ Regulatory Affairs operations, business processes and how Vault Clinical/Regulatory supports these processes.

  • Proven experience in specific end to end business processes and Enterprise Platform Solutions that digitally enable and empower the business processes. (Clinical/Regulatory Affairs)

  • Excellent project management abilities.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working with business to define Epics/user stories/features, as well as conducting impact analysis.

  • Present technical solutions based on the business requirement of the Veeva system.

  • Able to support technical upgrade on quarterly basis by conducting technical impact assessment, addressing any technical issues, support the environment management, support testing, and document changes per the SLC process.

  • Support system deliverables and provide technical feedback during internal and external Veeva Clinical system audit.

  • Work closely with the internal privacy and security team to assess Personal Information requests and act according per the privacy laws.

  • Maintain and report any issues and communicate effectively to all stakeholders during project/enhancement phase, service disruptions, and during the technical upgrade.

  • Lead without authority and be escalation point for any customer issues.

  • Knowledge of support processes - Incident Management, Problem Management

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience with Veeva Vault Clinical/Regulatory

  • Agile Champion: Adherence to DevOps principles and a proven track record with CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery

  • This position is remote and is based in Ontario, Canada
