Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a National Sales Lead reporting to Business Unit Director, Canada

Description:

2nd Line Management position, to effectively lead and manage a team of Regional Sales Managers, Therapeutic Specialists and Education Managers, to exceed sales and other key performance indicators in line with agreed sales and marketing strategies. To contribute to the development of effective processes that enhance corporate profitability and ensure direct reports and their teams reach their potential.

Essential Job Duties:

  • To lead and represent the sales function with all internal partners; marketing, OPEX, Market Access, Medical, etc.

  • To lead RSMs in a collaborative manner to maximize the sales and market share

  • To ensure sales targets and other key performance indicators are achieved at national and regional level

  • To effectively lead a team by providing direction and support; and being able to energize the team towards a vision and achievement of set objectives

  • To competently conduct line management responsibilities, including selecting, developing, performance management of direct reports in a timely manner

  • To make an active contribution to the development of effective product marketing strategies or sales force effectiveness initiatives

  • To review the resource requirement and proactively design programs which lead to the desired change in behaviours for the delivery of immediate and long-term goals

  • To ensure robust tactical implementation plans are developed by Regional Teams to deliver agreed upon targets

  • To produce regular and comprehensive position statements with respect to sales and business objective performance

  • To establish effective performance management systems across the sales function to ensure sales targets and other key performance indicators are achieved; to robustly monitor performance of sales teams and initiate corrective action as required

  • To ensure performance appraisal processes are fully implemented by managers

  • To proactively identify ways of improving the efficiency and profitability of business operations within area of responsibility

Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Computer/database literate including core MS Office applications

  • Persuasive communicator

  • High Emotional Intelligence and awareness

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to determine and integrate external and internal information into strategic recommendations

  • Strong team leader who is able to resonate with people and gain followership due to the manner in which they are role models in the organization

  • Strong team player who proactively looks to share at peer level

  • Highly results focused/action oriented/achiever

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Broad business acumen

  • Courage to speak with confidence when advising on business-critical decisions

  • Ability to initiate, cope with and manage change for self and others in the team

  • Experience successfully leading, implementing and monitoring robust Omnichannel engagement

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical industry – minimum 5 years

  • Experience in line management – minimum 3 years

  • Experience in second line management preferred

  • Experience in managing and developing RSMs or similar roles preferred

  • Experience in delivering results and able to get others passionate behind a vision

  • Experience in communicating and championing behaviour changes in an organization with a tangible outcome

  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams

  • Product management experience desirable

  • Women’s Health therapeutic experience

  • Recent successful launch experience

Preferred:

  • A degree in life sciences

  • Therapeutic Area experience; Women’s Health

  • Bilingual English/French

Quantitative dimensions:

  • Manage total budget of: Headcount, Promotional spend, Team development

  • Strategic input into all brand plans

Interpersonal relationships:

  • Reporting relationship to Business Unit Director

  • Brand Teams, Regional Sales Managers, OPEX partners, Medical Managers

  • Liaison with all the functions as required

  • Leadership of project teams as required

  • Specific projects as designated

Specific environmental factors:

National role, travel can be expected within country and wider, with overnight stays. Approximately 30%
