Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Scientist to be located in Markham, ON. This is a full-time role.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The role will be a combination of project management and technical work delivery, though the work can/may vary based on the applicant’s experience and career aspirations.

This position is ideally suited to an intermediate geoscientist or engineer aspirations to develop their project management strengths. This position will primarily shadow acting project managers in the area of environmental investigations and remediation.

Additionally, there are opportunities for candidates who would like to continue to build their technical background to have access to training and careers opportunities if of interest.

Technical work will include:

  • Remediation design projects: Phase 1 and 2 environmental site assessment (scheduling, procurement, execution, cost control). Both office and field duties, though this position is intended to primarily be an office-based role.

  • Field activities planning, coordination, administration, and monitoring, including contract close out and reporting

  • Remedial option assessment, implementation, system operation and maintenance.

  • Preparation of Remedial Actions Plans, Environmental Risk Assessments, Remediation projects

  • Technical writing and preparing technical documents, such as reports.

Project management responsibilities may include:

  • Technical and quality coordination

  • Proposal and scope change preparation

  • Scope and budget tracking

  • Collaborating and coordinate work with peers from the environment business, peers from other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and sub-consultants.

  • Quality management: demonstrated ability to follow internal processes and help projects be compliant.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline: Environmental geoscience, environmental engineering, etc.

  • 2+ years of related experience in the environmental field.

  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Post graduate degree in a relevant discipline: Environmental geoscience, environmental engineering, etc.

  • 4+ years of related experience in the environmental field and project management combined.

  • Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Ontario (or eligible for licensing)

  • Highly developed written communication, time management and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $70,000.00.
