TRECA Digital Academy Advisor in Marion, Ohio

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Advisor works with an assigned group of students, providing day-to-day support and monitoring daily attendance and progress, directing any/all necessary inquiries to the appropriate support services at TRECA. Advisors play a strong role in helping the student develop an effective work ethic by monitoring progress and proactively engaging the learner. The Advisor must develop close professional relationships with students that enable and foster mentoring. The use of technology to develop these relationships is essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: ? Provide support and consultation to students/parents by conducting personal contacts at regular intervals, identifying students at risk for problems and issues in regards to attendance, participation, and/or progress. ? Work with teachers and staff to develop and implement specialized programs to actively engage, motivate, and communicate with students to improve educational outcomes. ? Monitor student progress in learning environments. ? Make referrals to Call Center Staff on technical issues that arise from contacts. ? Make referrals to SAFE staff for any and all social services issues that may arise from contacts, specifically those that arise to the health and welfare of a student. ? Write and save anecdotal notes and other forms of documentation on contacts in appropriate student management. ? Work in conjunction with staff to troubleshoot student/parent needs. ? Attend any/all meetings, conferences, and trainings as assigned. ? Participate in student support meetings as requested. ? Schedule and proctor dates, times and locations for state-mandated testing. ? Interface daily with all required organizational communication systems. ? Assist with state testing as needed. ? Assist with summer school as needed ? Perform any and all related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: ? Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or related area preferred or commensurate experience ? Must reside in Ohio ? Willingness to maintain a valid driver's license and State of Ohio Substitute Teacher License ? Experience working in customer service environment; educational setting preferred ? Technological proficiency; high speed home Internet access required ? Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) ? Ability to multitask and execute duties according to deadlines ? High degree of flexibility and ability to collaborate with others ? High degree of organization and self-motivation ? Ability to communicate successfully with administration, staff, parents, and students, in both oral and written communications, electronically and hard copy ? Is discreet and recognizes importance of maintaining confidentiality when handling or conveying information obtained in work setting ? Ability to work successfully from a home and/or regional office environment ?
