POSITION TITLE: Building Mentors

FUNDING SOURCE: Teacher Leadership and Compensation System (TLC Funds)

FUNCTIONAL AREA: Teacher Leadership

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Instruction/Student Services Learning

EVALUATED BY:District Administrators

SALARY:According to certified teacher salary schedule plus $250 stipend

TERM:Standard Contract; duties performed on new staff day, PD days or before/after school

LOCATION:Building Specific

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The State of Iowa Department of Education sets certification requirements and such licenses are issued through the Board of Educational Examiners. Persons must hold an appropriate license to be employed.

ROLE: To provide support, assistance, and guidance to those teachers new to the district.

DUTIES:

• Communicate with teachers new to the building before the first day of work - provide an introduction, role you will play with their induction
• Meet with new staff members on the NEW STAFF DAY before the beginning of the school year, set up times to complete the Orientation Checklist including an orientation to policies and procedures
• Provide support and guidance to those new to the district during the school year
• Completion of the Orientation Checklist (before November 1st); submitted to the Director of Instruction/Student Services at Central Office for stipend

PROCESS OF APPLYING:

• Submit a letter or email to the building principal and Director of Instruction/Student Services including why you would like to serve as building induction mentor for your building and how you would contribute to the induction of those new to the district.
