Classification will be at either Student Worker Paraprofessional or Student Worker Paraprofessional Senior based on educational status and history. Salary will be paid commensurate with classification.
This position is located at the Office of Materials & Road Research in Maplewood. The position will work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
This position provides engineering support to ongoing research and construction activities such Density Profiling Systems (DPS) and new pavement quality assurance. The consistent basis work related to those projects includes field data collection, sampling, testing, assisting with quality assurance activities, and analysis of data. It is also anticipated that the position will assist with other time-sensitive requests as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be current students in a secondary, post-secondary, or graduate school. Other qualifications include:
Enrolled in an engineering, science, or mathematic/statistics program.
Experience with Microsoft computer programs, especially Excel and Word.
Ability to learn and apply statistical analysis tools to data sets.
Ability to learn the use of basic tools, machinery, and testing equipment.
Valid Class D Driver’s License.
Applicants must be a student in a college/university, trade, or technical school. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution the student must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be required to complete an Education Verification form prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of rational databases.
Knowledge of engineering materials and testing procedures.
Knowledge of MATLAB and Excel Macro programs.
