Responsibilities Job Description

Fairview is looking for a Computed Tomography(CT) Technologist at Fairview St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. We are known for our award-winning heart, stroke and cancer care. Imaging Technologists deliver services to patients and physicians through the creation of high quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. St. John's offers 24/7 Imaging services to Inpatient Units and Emergency patients We have outpatient access seven days a week.

Schedule : This is a 1.0FTE (80 hours worked per two weeks) position. The shift length will be 8 hours. Typical work schedule will be on the night shift, Monday through Friday, 10:30PM to 6:30AM.

The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist functions independently based on the boundaries of professional practice in performing all major work responsibilities. The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The technologist is responsible for performing the responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements (ARRT).

Maintains and prioritizes work to achieve optimal patient outcomes

  • Performs individualized, compassionate patient care

  • Performs high quality examinations

  • Identifies relevant data from images accurately

  • Uses appropriate communication skills to meet patient/family, and other customer needs.

  • Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional

  • Participates in creating a culture of patient safety

  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness

  • Verify patient identification and documentation

  • Communicate with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam

  • Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol

Applies established professional guidelines and standards to complex, routine, and non-routine diagnostic testing procedures

Ensures patient data integrity

  • Adheres to radiologic safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures

  • Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes

  • Follows infection control guidelines

  • Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members

  • Responds appropriately to emergent situations

  • Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving

  • Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances

  • Acts as a resource for problem-solving resolution

  • Completed all require continuing education to uphold their imaging licensure

Participates as an active team member

Correctly operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines

Required:

  • Technical Training and/or Associates Degree

  • Current Registration with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

  • Basic Life Support from American Red Cross or American Heart Association and current before date of hire

Preferred:

  • 1 or more years of experience in a related role

  • Additional certifications in Imaging

  • ARRT CT certification or successful completion within 18 months

Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time):

Understanding of current MN Dept of Health Regulations

Knowledge of quality control and safety standards

Previous ambulatory care experience preferred

Strong interpersonal skills

Qualifications

$33.72-$54.90 / Hourly
