Summary: A Robotic Technician applies automation skills along with related knowledge in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and hydraulics to install, program, troubleshoot, repair, maintain and modify robotic electrical components, circuitry, control systems, and machinery. Duties and Responsibilities: Work is project-orientated, and you may be working on a number of projects, all at various stages, at any given time. Work will be performed with minimal supervision. Typical work activities include but are not limited to: Be part of automation team able to determine proper cell layout / robot placement including peripheral equipment Program robot for series of manipulator moves manually or by electronic instructions to a microprocessor or by setting up and adjusting sequence by hand-held teach pendant Troubleshoot to determine robot malfunctions using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, circuit analysis, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics Disassemble robots and repair defective circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, servomotors, servo valves and maintain robotic systems including peripheral equipment Design, program and troubleshoot PLC, Industrial Control systems and relay control circuits to include panel layouts, wiring diagrams and interfaces. Perform testing, start-up, and troubleshooting of PLC and Industrial Control systems Be able to create and revise programs for PLC's to include integration into work cells with regards to poke-yoke / mistake proofing Install robot safety systems Work on AC and DC systems up to 480 volts May use computer-assisted design software to create CAD drawings of project wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc. Provide in-house training documents; prepare reports, flow diagrams and charts. Prepare specifications and standard operating instructions for processes and equipment. Position Requirements: Associate Degree in Robotics Technology, Automation Technology or similar technical discipline. Candidates with a vocational training certificate in robotics combined with 3-5 years of real world application in a manufacturing environment will be considered. Fanuc robotics programming experience desired but not required. Experience in the field of die casting, surface finishing, machining and assembly is also a plus. Candidate must possess the ability to develop designs and processes that require innovation and ingenuity. Managing the cost and time constraints of projects ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations is critical.
