Boston Scientific Senior Mechanical Design Engineering Supervisor in Maple Grove, Minnesota

About the role: The Senior Mechanical Design Supervisor will work within the Equipment Engineering team in Maple Grove, MN. Equipment Engineering develops and documents all types and scale of manufacturing equipment, automation, and fixtures to produce Boston Scientific products. This role will supervise a group of mechanical designers and/or engineers that are developing that equipment. Your responsibilities will include: Supervise a team of direct reports (mechanical designers or engineers) in the Equipment Engineering Department. Evaluate incoming work requests and determine appropriate resources needed to accomplish the goal. Maintain an understanding of the work capabilities (technical and otherwise) of all reports. Maintain an understanding of staff capacity and workload (current and forecasted) Employee mentoring, development, evaluations, ratings, and recognition Coach people through problem solving process. Proactively recognize project red flags in subordinate's projects Contribute to improving business systems and methods. Understand and promote design standards and best practices. Foster innovative and collaborative culture. Hold regular 1on1s with reports to discuss workloads, employee needs, and career development. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical area; a 2-year degree with equivalent experience will be considered 6+ years in a related role (technical or supervisory role) Design experience with 3D modeling software (i.e. Solidworks) Experience coaching people through the problem-solving process Excellent organizational and planning skills; drives to get results Proven mechanical aptitude Strong problem-solving ability Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of experience of people leadership experience Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, and presentation methods Desire to embrace people leadership and learn the skills involved Knowledge of materials and machining processes Experience with manufacturing equipment Possess a collaborative spirit that shares and promotes diverse ideas and thoughts across the group Passion for mechanical design and problem solving Exposure to / experience with the project management process Requisition ID:586849 Among other requirements, Boston Scientific maintains specific prohibited substancetesting requirements for safety-sensitive positions.
