R&D Engineer II Peripheral Intervention Maple Grove, MN At Boston Scientific, our products and technologies are used to diagnose or treat a wide range of medical conditions. Within the Peripheral Interventions (PI) Division we design, develop, produce and sustain technologies for treating peripheral venous and arterial disorders, in addition to supporting evolving regulatory and standard requirements around product design. We are able to provide a number of solutions to patients that include: Drug-Eluting & Bare-Metal Stents, Thrombectomy, Catheters, Balloons & Drug-Eluting Balloons, Microspheres and Atherectomy. Purpose Statement Boston Scientific is seeking a motivated engineer to become a member of the Clot Management team within New Product Development (NPD) of BSC's PI Division. As a member of the Clot Management NPD team; develops, directs and executes experiments and plans toward the development of new products. Under limited supervision/guidance; compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test and research data to establish/verify performance standards for products, processes and materials. This individual will be part of a larger product team and operate cross-functionally to achieve project goals. Key Responsibilities Successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: design development, experiment design and execution, establishment of specifications and prints, research investigations, team report-outs and report preparation and test documentation Experience with catheter systems design and fluid mechanics Support or serve as a workstream lead within a project Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments Support integration of newly acquired technologies into Boston Scientific Performs troubleshooting on products/process problems as related to design, material or process Summarizes, analyzes and draws conclusions from test results Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community Responsible for engineering documentation May train and/or provide work direction to technicians Works cross-functionally with mission manager, project management, quality, process development, regulatory, clinical and marketing personnel to ensure project success Demonstrates strong design control knowledge through generation of high-quality deliverables Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering - Biomedical, Mechanical engineering or equivalent 2+ years of engineering experience or MS Degree from an accredited university Proven ability to work within a regulated industry environment and with a track record of accomplishments. Self-Starter with the ability to work independently / with a team to plan, schedule and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines to schedule Fundamental understanding of design controls and risk management within the medical device industry Fundamental understanding of the Quality System per ISO 13485 or 21 CFR 820 Preferred Qualifications: Biomedical or anatomy understanding of peripheral vasculature Medical device industry experience Medical device product development system knowledge (PDP/TDP) Strong communication skills Experience working with cross-cultural teams Experience with thrombectomy systems and des gn is a plus Technical Project Management experience is a plus Solid fluid mechanics understanding a plus Quality System Requirements In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
