VCA Animal Hospitals Pet Boarding Shift Lead in Maple Grove, Minnesota

Within the boarding facility, Shift Leads are responsible for the day-to-day care and supervision of pets, client service and reception duties, as well as the supervision of Kennel Attendants. Duties include, but are not limited to feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, supervising dog group play and monitoring the well-being of dogs, cats and, occasionally, other companion animals, in addition to providing superior client service and accurate record keeping. Shift Leads must have sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and or move heavy pets and objects, the dexterity and confidence to administer medications, and the ability to monitor pets for signs of distress or disease. It is essential that they have the willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle, compassionate care for pets in the boarding facility.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Ability to follow low stress handling techniques

  • With training, be able to read animal body language

  • Able to work independently and without supervision

  • Has an upbeat and outgoing personality with ability to work with a variety of personalities

  • Enjoys working with people and able to effectively communicate with clients in person, over the phone and electronically

  • High attention to detail

  • Problem solving skills

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task

  • Comfortable using a windows-based computer software program

  • Flexible schedule including weekend, evening, and holiday hours

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and able to lift 40#

  • Reliable transportation
