Position Summary:

Reporting to the Center Director, the Dance Instructor Specialist is responsible for teaching dance choreography to elementary and middle school students at a Children’s Aid (CA) after-school program.

Essential Duties:

  • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures

  • Develop and implement course curriculum

  • Support students in presenting an end-of-quarter dance performance

  • Teach general dance skills to students in creative and engaging ways

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings

  • Request and maintain proper care of supplies and equipment needed for activities

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the CA-Dunlevy Milbank Center

  • Perform other duties as assigned**

*Minimum Qualifications: *

  • Two years of experience teaching children and youth

  • Experience in various dance genres required.

* *Competencies:

  • Must be comfortable creating choreography

  • Creative approach to teaching and engaging dance for youth of all ability levels

  • Familiar with and the ability to connect with youth culture trends (ages 14-18)

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently
