\ \ Registered Nurse\ \ Department: 3670009270 Lafene Student Health Center\ Job no: 517463\ Employment type: Staff Full Time (USS)\ Location: Manhattan, Kansas\ Worksite: On-site requirement\ Categories: Health Profession\ Pay Grade: 10A\ \ \ About This Role:\ This position provides nursing care to patients who present for care daily.\ \ Nursing care for clinic outpatients. Provides professional nursing care in accordance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, physician\'s orders, and administrative policies, to outpatients.\ \ This is done by:\ \ a. Assessing patient needs through interviewing, recognizing and interpreting symptoms and conditions in order to determine individual response to treatment program and current medication. This is done in order to prepare, record, and relay accurate reports on the status of the patient\'s progress to the treating physician and staff members directly involved in total care of the patient.\ \ b. Administration of medications and treatments as prescribed.\ \ c. Instructing patient regarding self-care techniques and preventive strategies. This is done by evaluating level of understanding of disease process and /or potential health status, providing information needed and determining the patient\'s intent for compliance with the treatment routine. Written and verbal instructions maybe given. This is done in order to promote the highest level of physical, mental well-being possible.\ \ d. Formulating nursing diagnoses in order to outline a nursing care plan specific to the patient\'s needs. This is to insure continuity of medical, physical, and emotional care during the treatment process.\ \ Record keeping. Documents nursing history, clinical data, doctor\'s orders, patient response to treatment and/or understanding of instructions given, and other objective findings in order to furnish written evidence of everything done for the patient while being treated by the healthcare team.   • Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas.

\ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
  • 2-3 years experience in performing health asses ments.
  • 2-3 years experience in executing organizational policy, goals or objectives.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory & practices, nursing assessment skills, demonstrate practical application of nursing theory and techniques to specific patient treatment situations, able to follow oral & written instructions in detail, prepare nursing care plans and maintain records, charts and reports.
  • Possess exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
  • Have the ability to deal with confidential matters between patients and/or staff and be able to maintain that confidentiality appropriately.
  • Experience using a personal computer.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.

At the time of appointment the selected employee must possess a Kansas licensure/temporary permit, or be given authority to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
