rAbout This Role:

The CARE Survivor Advocate in the Department of Student Support & Accountability, Division of Academic Success & Student Affairs provides confidential advocacy and support to students, faculty, and staff who are survivors of sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking. The Survivor Advocate will also assistance in organizing, developing, and presenting ongoing awareness campaigns and programs to address sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, sexual harassment, and stalking as well as general outreach. This is a 12-month, Term contracted position.

Founded in 1973 as the Women\'s Center, CARE provides quality direct services to students, staff, and faculty impacted by sexual and interpersonal violence.

CARE Survivor Advocates are available to assist survivors in understanding and navigating university policies and procedures and help promote the academic success and personal wellness of survivors. CARE Survivor Advocates are also available to the greater K-State community to provide education, training and facilitated conversations around the aforementioned and related topics.

What You\'ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • One-year relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in health promotion, social work, family studies and human services, women\'s studies, sociology, criminal justice, or related field.
  • Experience working as a survivor advocate or in a support service capacity for those impacted by trauma.
  • Working knowledge of crisis and/or trauma-related interventions appropriate for late adolescent and adult development.
  • Knowledge of campus violence education and response best practices.
  • Ability to accurately ascertain the seriousness of an emergency/crisis and to project a calm demeanor in crisis situations.
  • Experience and strong understanding of privilege, oppression, systemic racism, and intersectionality.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

\$20.43 - \$21.57 per hour (\$42,500 - \$44,863 annually)
