DEKA Research & Development Facilities Maintenance Technician (Afternoon Coverage) in Manchester, New Hampshire
DEKA Research and Development, housed in Manchester, NH, has an immediate opening for a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician on the maintenance team. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for routine building maintenance and special requests for the "Afternoon Shift" roughly between 10:00amand 6:00pm Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, ability to adjust to changing priorities and work requests, work well as part of a team, and present a casual but professional appearance. Must possess basic carpentry skills, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.—Will work with and direct contractors engaged in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general carpentry trades. Will be required to share emergency response calls after regular business hours.
How you will make an impact as a Facilities Maintenance Technician:
Complete work orders promptly
Answer emergency maintenance calls and serve as the 1st responder
Documents pertinent details to work orders
Communicates with the manager, staff, and tenants regarding facility maintenance, projects, and emergencies
Provide contractors guidance and support with maintenance on facility systems and physical plant; including but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); fire suppression; and access control
Implement the facility preventative maintenance plans.
Maintains the inventory of supplies needed to support daily work requirements
What you need to be successful in this roll as a Facilities Maintenance Technician:
2-5 years experience in a maintenance role
Able to cover hours from 10:00am-6:00pm Monday- Friday and close up facilities
Demonstrated experience prioritizing work orders and documenting work
Strong written and verbal communication
Experience in completing minor building repairs using hand tools and small power tools relating to General Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting, HVAC, Access control, and Cleaning.
Working collaboratively with other maintenance staff to prioritize jobs and complete work efficiently
Ability to interpret basic electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams
Competence in Root cause analysis and repair
Excellent communication skills
Available for calls after regular business hours
Ability to handle various cleaning solvents, chemicals, etc.
Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc
Physical capabilities which enable the safe handling of tools, equipment, and products associated with the position for up to 2 hours at a time
Able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds
Be able to lift, carry, walk, push, and pull
