As Head of Commercial you will be responsible for developing and executing the company's commercial and pricing strategy, driving revenue growth, and enhancing profitability across both the In-Service and Consultancy divisions of the Engineering Inspection Business.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the engineering inspection market and a commercial mindset. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will lead on all commercial strategy, pricing and distribution activities for the Engineering Inspection business.

The role will lead the development and successful implementation over the strategic direction and focus of the division with respect to markets, business development and customer service, to support the engineering business in delivering on its future ambitions for profitable growth and market leading customer experience.

Collaborating closely with all stakeholders across HSBUK&I, the Head of Commercial will ensure that organisational structure, processes and governance are fully aligned with the vision and strategy of the business. This role will ensure that there is close alignment with the Commercial and Operations divisions which support both Engineering and Insurance Businesses and provide motivational leadership to all relevant teams to support the commercial strategy and aims.

The Head of Commercial will contribute to wider organisational strategy and effective operational decision making. The Head of Commercial will develop and implement annual operational and strategic plans and priorities in relation to market, distribution and pricing in line with the business’s goals and objectives to drive profitable top and bottom-line growth. You will lead and oversee the performance and successful delivery against commercial goals and objectives, including oversight and performance management of outsourced functions which impact and influence distribution and pricing for the Engineering Business.

You will be responsible for leading on market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth, competitive landscape, emerging trends and maximising use of systems and analytics. You will work with the wider HSBUK&I leaders to set and achieve profitable sales targets, improve customer acquisition, and maintain elevated levels of customer satisfaction and business retention.

Key skills and experience:

• Proven leadership experience in previous roles with extensive Commercial and Pricing experience (preferably within the Inspection industry). Strong commercial awareness capabilities.

• Ability to motivate and drive a culture of high performance.

• Effective stakeholder management in a matrix reporting line environment; ability to quickly build relationships and prove credibility.

• Ability to communicate across all levels and articulate complex topics in a simple and easy to understand manner.

• Good knowledge and understanding of the business, economic and market environment in which non-life property carriers operate.

• Awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the inspection industry and ability to lead a team to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks.

• Awareness and understanding of the industry accreditation framework, and the regulatory requirements in which the Company operates.

• Ability to lead the development and interpretation of numerical trends and analysis, identify key issues based on this information to enable well-informed business decisions.
