Position Overview: The Engineering Technician is responsible for managing the electronics and systems laboratories at Neuronetics, Inc.  The Engineering Technician is a key participant in all electrical and mechanical prototype development, troubleshooting, equipment repairs/upgrades, development testing, hardware/software interface testing, verification/validation testing, and equipment calibration.  The candidate should be capable of evaluating and troubleshooting electronic printed circuit board assemblies, and use basic electrical test equipment without supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Managing the electronics, R&D, and systems laboratories at Neuronetics Key participant in all development testing such as, but not limited to: electro-mechanical prototype development, equipment repairs, development testing, development troubleshooting, design verification testing, root cause failure analysis, product validation testing, compliance testing to medical device standards Assembly and test of both electrical and mechanical prototypes Maintain calibration of all test equipment and test fixtures Troubleshooting/testing electronic PCBA's and high voltage circuitry using standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, waveform generators, thermocouples, etc. Familiarity with basic analog, digital and high voltage circuits a must Ability to read basic schematic diagrams and understand general operation. Capable of learning new circuits with the aid of the design engineer, and apply the knowledge to other schematic circuits Capable of troubleshooting and describing hardware/software interface issues with software engineers to properly address root cause or to suggest software improvements Soldering of electronic PCBA's using surface mount (leaded/leadless) and through-hole piece parts Soldering of test equipment including cable harnesses, test fixture panels, and fine pitch connectors Programming of parts using Windows based GUI application - PCBA level and product level Code development is a plus, but not required Maintain a neat and orderly laboratory environment, stocking lab equipment, components, and supplies for general use Perform 3D printer maintenance and cleaning Support sustaining engineering production projects and testing Familiarity with HALT/HASS testing a plus Ability to learn new software programs for use in the laboratory with little supervision Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Candidate is expected to be professional, responsive, well organized, self-directed, operate efficiently in a team environment, and adhere to safety standards. Adherence to ISO 13485, FDA, and Neuronetics Quality System requirements is essential Testing and measurement techniques - Voltage Dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations immunity tests for equipment with input current up to 16A per phase Other Duties as needed or required (include as last item)

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, soldering, hot air rework, writing, testing on micro-controller based electronics, including SMT and through hole parts. Capable of organizing a multi-disciplined laboratory Capable of using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, and other basic electronic test equipment with little to no supervision Basic mechanical skills such as drilling, screwing, general tool use, and light assembly Good communication skills to both fellow employees, and management Knowledge of aboratory safety practices, including ESD Education and Experience: Associates degree or better in electronics or equivalent 4+ years of hands-on engineering troubleshooting, prototyping, test, and system/hardware/software integration experience 3+ years of product development experience, preferably in medical device field

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of ISO 13485, IEC60601, and FDA regulatory requirements is desirable Knowledge and test of IEC 61000-4-11: 2020 (Edition 3.0)

Physical Requirements Standing/Sitting - 50/50% Walking/Bending/Stooping - 15% Lifting Requirements - ability to lift 60lbs from floor to tabletop Travel by air, rail, auto - <10%
