*Summary:* The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Psychologist is responsible for providing clinical oversight, leadership, and direction to mental health services staff and correctional staff in correctional settings, from minimum to super maximum security, within the Arkansas Department of Correction. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy. *Typical Functions:* Oversees and/or performs crisis intervention and suicide assessment for inmates and provides feedback to other mental health staff regarding such interventions and assessments. Performs assessments of inmates regarding diagnostic considerations, mental status, and behavioral concerns, in order to provide input into treatment program recommendations, treatment plans, case management, and referrals for medication management. Provides clinical supervision to mental health staff and/or interns in the delivery of mental health services to the inmate population. Oversees and/or performs inmate segregation reviews to assess inmate isolation/segregation status. Provides individual and group counseling/therapy to the general inmate population and to inmates secured in maximum security settings. Participates in department, medical, and unit committees to ensure and improve the quality of service delivery of inmate psychological services and coordinate treatment efforts. Prepares and presents professional presentations and/or training to peers, security, and appropriate public entities for the purposes of education and public relations as requested. Assists in developing research and/or outcome assessment activities within the department. *Performs other duties as assigned:.* Risk of exposure to personal injury and/or verbal abuse as a result of interactions with convicted felons in the inmate population. Frequent in-state travel between correctional facilities may be required. On-call duty to provide consultation to other mental health staff may be required.
