What You Will Do

The Principal Scientist - Materials will be a technical expert on analytical activities associated with raw materials used in drug products. The Principal Scientist – Materials will provide leadership on global activities related to a broad range of analytical support for raw material testing including but not limited to laboratory qualification, investigations, and method equivalency. This individual will also represent the R&D Analytical group in cross-functional and cross-sector teams with responsibility for technical guidance to drive science based, compliant and efficient resolutions in support of analytical testing of raw materials and global compliance projects. This person should also have a broad base of knowledge related to raw materials that can be applied to work with the Regulatory, Quality, Legal and Toxicology teams for compliance with various regulatory requirements and Health Authority expectations related to the testing of raw materials. The individual in this position should be a strong technical leader and have the ability to influence and negotiate with key business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong technical background in interpretation and implementation of compendial and health authority requirements for the testing of raw materials.

• Strong understanding of the theory and use of analytical techniques and instrumentation associated Raw Material testing such as HPLC, GC, Particle Size, Viscosity, Titrations, etc..

• Strong knowledge of the requirements for qualifying an analytical laboratory to test raw materials, including method verification, validation and transfer.

• Proven track record of working independently and leading technical teams to address complex technical issues.

• Experience and knowledge in the ICH Q3C (Residual Solvents) and ICHQ3D (Elemental Impurities) requirements.

• Strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient in making presentations to senior management and at company meetings.

• Minimum MSc, B Pharm, M. Pharm, Ph.D. or equivalent science stream with minimum 8 years of work experience.
